Dear MRC Family,
Pentecost blessings to you, beloved of God, in this season of Ordinary Time
How is your summer going? Have you traveled somewhere to have fun and relax? Have you taken day trips and explored new places around New Jersey? Read any good books? Tried out a new restaurant? Gone to the beach? Like many summers before, I’ve concentrated on slowing down in order to be in the presence of God and listen for the Spirit, and enjoying spending time with my favorite person in the world — my spouse, Jamie. Whatever you’ve been doing or wherever you’ve been going this summer, if you’re in town we are still here at MRC every Sunday worshiping God and I would love to see you!
So come this Sixth Sunday after Pentecost to be fed and nurtured for the week ahead. Tom will lead us in our hymns and sing the Anthem “Voice of a Savior.” Our fruit of the Spirit this week for our Summer Sermon Series is patience. The Apostle Paul writes, But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience. What does hoping with patience look like? I am preaching from Romans 8.18-25 and my sermon title is How Long, O Lord? - Soon. I invite you to watch this clip from the television series “The Chosen” for a little preview of the sermon. In addition, we will come to God’s table of welcome and grace and celebrate the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper together. After worship, come downstairs to the Lower Auditorium for coffee and conversation with your church family before you go out to have your summer fun.
Keep following and bothering Jesus, beloved.
With gratitude for the privilege of being your pastor and the holy call of loving you,
Pastor Trish
