Dear MRC Family,

Blessings to you, beloved of God, in this season of Ordinary Time

This Sunday will be filled with joy and remembrance. First, there will be joy as we welcome into the Church Universal little Vivien Thornton O’Brien through the Sacrament of Baptism. (We will not celebrate the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper this week, but we will have communion on August 16.) And then there will be remembrance at our 21st annual Lt. Dennis W. Zilinski, II Youth Group Memorial Scholarship BBQ in the Education Building. Hot dogs, hamburgers, corn on the cob, baked beans, deviled eggs, watermelon, and more -- all the good stuff of a BBQ. This event is open to the Community and to anyone who wishes to celebrate and remember the life of Lt. Dennis W. Zilinski, II a former youth group member who lost his life in Iraq in 2005. Our guest speaker for the BBQ is Viet Nam Veteran and past Commander of VFW Post 2179 Dennis Beauregard who will share his thoughts on “Why Is It Important That We Remember?” Finally, graduating Youth Group Member, Amelia Caddle, will receive a scholarship in memory of Dennis. She will attend Stockton University. And let me add a very special thank you to Lisa Leidecker who beautified our grounds in anticipation of welcoming guests to our worship and BBQ.

So, come this Tenth Sunday after Pentecost at 10:30AM to worship with your church family, and bring your joy with you! Tom will lead us in our hymns and sing the Prelude “I’ve Witnessed It” and the Anthem “I Got You.” I’m preaching from 2 Kings 5.1-14 — a healing story in the Jordan River that shows us we serve a God of hope — and my sermon title is The God of Possibilities.

If you are unable to be in person for worship, we will be streaming live on our YouTube channel, https://www.youtube.com/@mrcafabulouschurchoflove1611. Also, if you are away this summer, we would be grateful if you would still send in your tithes/offerings so we can continue to do the work of Jesus which doesn’t stop during the summer. Please consider sending in your offerings online at www.mrchurch.us/give or to 121 Kings Highway Middletown, NJ 07748. Thank you for your continued generosity!

Keep bothering and following Jesus, beloved

With gratitude for the privilege of being your pastor and the holy call of loving you,

Pastor Trish
