Dear MRC Family,
A last Eastertide blessing to you for this year!
Jesus said to them, “Peace be with you. As God has sent me, so I send you.” When he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” — John 20.21-22
Sit still.
Breathe deeply.
In and out, breath flows.
Given, not bought.
Received … and released,
in … and out.
The breath is life,
with power to make life:
air becoming blood;
Word made flesh.
It is Love, which makes you alive.
Love is in you, to receive and give.
It is Spirit, the Breath of Christ,
breathing in you.
You are breathing Jesus.
Jesus is breathing you into the world.
Breathing in, Christ enters you.
Breathing out, love enters the world. — Steve Garnaas-Holmes
Come, beloved of God, wear red to worship as we gather on this Pentecost Sunday to celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit — breath, fire, wind, and most especially, Love. Our music will stir your soul as we have Andrew Olenik on violin joining us once again. And Tom and I are singing a duet, “Go Light Your World.” I will be preaching from Acts 2.1-21 and Philippians 4.4-9 and my sermon title is Holy Mischief is Alive & Well. For those who were present at Pastor Grace’s ordination, you may remember this Philippians reading was the focus of my sermon for her. Well, I’ve rewritten that sermon now for you!
If you are unable to be in person for worship, we will be streaming live on our YouTube channel, https://www.youtube.com/@mrcafabulouschurchoflove1611. And if you are one of our many followers on Facebook, subscribers on YouTube, or you worship with us online, please consider donating to the ministries of MRC at www.mrchurch.us/give. Thank you for your generosity!
Breathe in Life
Breathe in Jesus
Breathe out Love
And then, there it is — God’s love continues.
Keep bothering and following Jesus, beloved.
In gratitude for the privilege of being your pastor and the holy call of loving you,
Pastor Trish
