Dear MRC Family,

Pentecost blessings to you, beloved of God, in this season of Ordinary Time

August is the month of reckoning. Of standing in the field with arms open, open, seeing what you have grown, and what has withered. -- Clarissa Pinkola-Estés

We are on the cusp of transitioning into a new season and such beginnings allow us the opportunity to pause — to see what has grown and what has withered — and then take a spiritual inventory before we move forward. So, this Sunday I’m going to invite you to take a deep breath, and practice the pause with me as we reflect upon something that will give us the space to look deeper in anticipation of what’s next for the fall. Our worship will be a bit different this Sunday. We will hear inspirational readings that mark the movement from summer to fall; Tom will sing the Prelude “Turn! Turn! Turn!” and the Anthem “Give Thanks;” and our centering Scripture is Ephesians 3.7-21. I’m not going to preach a sermon but rather, I’m going to tell you a story called More Than We Can Ask or Imagine that I pray will be a way to invite us into the space of the pause. And we will also have a hymn sing. So be prepared to call out your favorite hymns
during worship!

Of note: This Sunday is the last day to bring in your $25 gift cards for the Calico Cat Back to School Program

Of note: Due to a low/lack of response, the backyard party tonight is CANCELED. Have a fun end-of-summer weekend! And I look forward to worshiping with you on Sunday at 10:30AM.

Keep following and bothering Jesus, beloved.

With gratitude for the privilege of being your pastor and the holy call of loving you,

Pastor Trish
