Dear Middletown Reformed Church Family and Friends,

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you!

This Sunday’s topic for our Sermons of the People is living life through God’s love and abundance — joyful, generous, and genuine. As people who follow Jesus, what does it look like to lead a life worthy of the calling to which we have been called, as the Apostle Paul describes it in his letter to the saints in Ephesus? Come and worship with your church family this Eleventh Sunday after Pentecost as we explore how we are joyful
because of God’s grace; we are generous because God is able to accomplish abundantly far more than we can ask or imagine by the power of the Spirit within us; and we are genuine in love because God first loved us. Tom will lead us in our hymns and sing the Anthem “Sure Been Good.” I am preaching from Ephesians 3.14-4.6 and my sermon title is Leading the Worthy Life. As it is the First Sunday of the month we will come to God’s table of grace and celebrate the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper together.

And talking about a life worthy of God’s calling — After worship, we will honor and remember the life and legacy of MRC’s beloved Lt. Dennis W. Zilinski, II at our 19th Annual Lt. Dennis W. Zilinski, II Youth Group Memorial Scholarship BBQ. Nancy Scharff will provide special music, and we will award two scholarships to Tyler Levens and Callie Thorpe, both continuing on in their education at NJIT and Brookdale Community College, respectively.

See you Sunday! And stay cool and hydrated in this dangerous, unhealthy summer heat.

In gratitude for the privilege of being your pastor and the holy call of loving you,

Pastor Trish
