Dear MRC Family,
Pentecost blessings to you, beloved of God, in this season of Ordinary Time
Thank you for all your answers to my question, When Jesus says, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives," how would you describe Jesus' peace as opposed to the world's peace? What I heard from you was that Jesus’ peace is steadfast, pure, trustworthy, no boundaries, whereas the world’s peace is changeable, not true, selective, not believable. Your thoughts helped me write my
sermon!
I look forward to worshiping with you this Fifth Sunday after Pentecost as we continue to explore Jesus’ peace together. We continue our Summer Sermon Series — Fruit of the Spirit, or How to get out of our own way and let the Spirit do her work. We have a special musical guest, Andrew Olenik on violin who will be playing Handel’s Sonata for Violin throughout various parts of our worship. Certainly the gift of such beautiful music will inspire us toward peace! I am preaching from John 14.25-27 and my sermon title is Practicing Peace. In addition, since it is the second Sunday of the month, we will receive our Deacons’ offering for those in need in our church and community. And trust me beloved, there is and will be great need. After worship, come downstairs to the Lower Auditorium for coffee and conversation with your church family before you go out to have your summer fun.
Keep following and bothering Jesus.
With gratitude for the privilege of being your pastor and the holy call of loving you,
Pastor Trish
